Manuel María González was only 23 years old when he created and started his business of breeding, aging and exporting Sherry wines. So at the beginning, he took advice from several people he trusted and from his family.
One of them was Mr. José Ángel de la Peña, his maternal uncle, who knew the art of breeding sherry wines and whom he affectionately called "Tío Pepe".
He taught him the secrets of breeding fine wine, which was then exported little and was only consumed locally or regionally, but "Tío Pepe" convinced his nephew Manuel Maria to bet on the Pálidos wines, which I thought would have a great future.
In 1835 Manuel María arrived in Jerez and created some wineries, already highlighting his fine wine Tio Pepe in the "Solera del Tío Pepe", where José Ángel de la Peña's friends gathered. 20 years later, in 1855 and given the growing success of his company, he decided to partner with Mr. Robert Blake Byass, his agent in England.
The Tio Pepe facilities are located in the urban center of Jeréz de la Frontera, there you can visit the "Los Reyes" winery, the old Sample Room, the Andalusian Patio, the Brandy Cathedral or the Romantic Garden.
A great guide will show us all the secrets of the wineries and the wine breeding and aging processes. We will see the immense wooden barrels, and we will be able to rest in its gardens.
For any questions about visits or questions, contact Tio Pepe and they will resolve all the questions you ask them. Don't hesitate and enjoy the most famous wine cellars.
