Description of Guided tour of Las Sinsombrero in Madrid 2 hours
Las Sinsombrero, visionary artists and fighters, once again shine with their own light to have a complete vision of the Generation of '27. A guided tour through a legend that not only in Madrid had great relevance.
The 1920s in Spain are inexorably associated with the most prosperous and prolific generation of artists and intellectuals of the 20th century: The one known as the Generation of '27, also called the Silver Age, in memory of the great Spanish Golden Age. The generation of '27 is one of the most recognized signs of artistic identity in the cultural and social history of the country.
Members of this generation were Federico García Lorca, Luís Buñuel, Salvador Dalí, Rafael Alberti and Luis Cernuda, who have enjoyed (and today, enjoy) great recognition and popularity, being the subject of studies both nationally and internationally. But the recognition of the Generation of '27 is only partial, since until a few years ago only reference was made to the male components, although the women of this generation, the Sinsombrero, had a great creative and unifying importance for women.
Luckily, little by little the work of the women of 27 has begun to be recognized, in the shadows for decades, eclipsed by a male gaze of culture. The Sinsombrero are a generation of brave women, they are the first female generation that has made a step in History. The first generation of women who entered the artistic world without complexes.
Women who fought against the norms of their time, rebelling against the norms that marginalized them. Talented women, fighters, workers, visionaries, pioneers, but above all artists who decisively influenced both Spanish and international art and thought because many of them lived in exile after the Civil War. p>
This group of women is known as the Sinsombrero, for having dared to take off their hats in public as a protest against the situation of women in society. The Civil War marked the end of the Generation of '27, but in the case of the sombreros, it also meant their condemnation to oblivion. Once democracy was restored in Spain, the names of their male colleagues were recovered and exalted, while they continued in the shadows and in silence, losing their place, as a matter of right, within the official narrative of the Generation of '27 and therefore in the story.
María Teresa León, Ernestina de Champourcín, Rosa Chacel, Concha Méndez, Josefina de la Torre, María Zambrano, Maruja Mallo and Marga Gil Roësset area representation of these group of artists and creators, who through this route we intend to bring from oblivion so that their names along with their works can once again shine with the brilliance of the generation of '27, the so-called Silver Age of Spanish Art.< /p>
