Although we are in the heart of Madrid , at Active Trekking we organize hiking and ornithological routes through the varied nature that exists within the Community of Madrid and even throughout the Spanish territory, when we go out for several days.
Here we are biologists and mountain guides, and every month we go into the mount about 10 people to do sports, learn about the history of the places where we go, their geology and the elements that make them up and make them so special. This number of people for the expedition is very comfortable, because it will make us all have a good relationship and it is not so great as to get lost in the explanations.
From north to south, in the Community we hike in places such as the Picadas Dam , along the banks of the Alberche River, or the Senda de Guariñas , in Buitrago del Lozoya, at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama, among many other exits.
As we will do long routes, of several days, through places throughout the Peninsula: the Ordesa Valley in the Pyrenees, the Despeñaperros Natural Park in Andalusia or Monfragüe in Extremadura.
But we take advantage of the trails surrounded by flora and fauna to do ornithological routes around the capital. We will go with a professional ornithologist and a telescope to see the common kestrel, the bustard , the Marsh harriers and the little bustard, apart from many other species.
We will all leave together from the city to share transportation and reduce toxic emissions to the environment.

Our office is located in the center of Madrid, very well connected by metro La Latina and Tirso de Molina. r nIt is not accessible by car because it belongs to Madrid Centro.
Can you imagine staying in Madrid Centro and, a while later, being in the middle of Madrid's nature doing a hiking route ? At Active Trekking we organize tours of various parts of the Community of Madrid, because the rural area that surrounds the capital is very wide and varied.
With a mountain guide, we start from the center in a small group of people, to do the most familiar route in which, if the difficulty allows it, it is possible to bring pets . Every month we make excursions to the mountains, such as the Guariñas Path in the Sierra de Guadarrama, the Cancho de los Muertos in La Pedriza and the Cuerda Larga in the Morcuera port.
They are routes to know the geography and geology and its development over the years, and the life that inhabits it. We will know how to differentiate the animal and plant species that populate these lands.
But we not only move within the Community of Madrid. When we have time, we do hiking trails throughout Spain. We have gone to the Pyrenees, the Monfragüe National Park or the Ponga Natural Park, in the Cantabrian Mountains . They are paradises that we travel on foot, doing sports and with good company while we discover all the natural treasures that make up the Spanish territory.

In Active Hiking we have not reduced ourselves to doing hiking trails , because we also take the binoculars and the telescope and we take you to the Madrid mountain range to spot the great variety of birds that fly a few kilometers from the capital.
We left Madrid with a professional ornithologist in small groups, of about 10 people. Why this number? We are convinced that it is a good amount to learn about the history of the environment and the evolution of birds in the area, apart from the good atmosphere that is generated in the group.
We set out throughout the Community: the Sierra de Gredos to the west, the Sierra de Guadarrama to the north , through towns such as Rascafría or Navacerrada. The points are very varied and the birds that we will also see: the bustard , the black vulture , the common kestrel and the buzzard are some of the dozens of species that await us in the mountains of Madrid.
We carry our own telescope , but we recommend that you bring your binoculars to see as many times as you want the trees and rocks where they rest, or to admire the elegance with the that move through the air.
We share a car to pollute as little as possible, so don't worry if you don't have transportation.
