Seeing whales and dolphins in their environment is a fascinating experience. As Mark Carwardine said: “Who can be insensitive to a thirty-ton humpback whale soaring through the air, the size of a blue whale, or the spectacle of a pod of dolphins riding the crests of mountains? waves left by a ship?”.

In the Azores approximately 27 different species of cetaceans can be observed, which makes the island of Pico one of the best places in the world to contemplate the giants of the sea. Our meeting point is at the entrance of the marina of Lajes do Pico.

Aqua Açores was founded in 1996 by a local family whose mission has always been to offer visitors a unique journey into the world of cetaceans and the immense marine life of our seas. Our main objective is to provide a quality service and arouse curiosity about this interesting activity.

The Aqua Açores team is made up of skippers, biologists and professional watchmen who are concerned at all times about the safety of our clients, as well as our aquatic friends and their habitat. Respect for marine inhabitants and their environment is always our main premise.

We have daily departures at 9am, 2pm and 5.30pm with a duration of about 3 hours. We not only have whale watching excursions, but you will also find boat trips and boat rentals.

We will guide you in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean aboard our semi-rigid boats so you can discover the incredible experience of watching whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. Not only will we be able to spot these animals, but we will also have the opportunity to see sea birds, turtles and fish.

We organize daily departures from mid-March to the end of October, lasting approximately 3 hours. Come and discover the Azores in a unique way with us from the marina of Lajes do Pico.
