At Madrid Backcountry we work from the Sierra de Madrid offering you guided outings in various modalities at all possible levels. However, although we are located in the Lozoya Valley, the activities we offer can be extended to other mountain areas of the peninsula such as Sierra Nevada, in the south, the Picos de Europa. /strong> between Cantabria and Asturias or the Serra de Tramuntana. We present some of them to you:
- Snowshoeing in the Sierra Norte: à la carte between locations such as the Montes Carpetanos or Peñalara. Of course, we will advise you which is the best place in each case since we depend on the snowfall from previous days.
- Snowboard lessons in La Pinilla: we're going to this ski resort so you can learn how to get started properly on the board. We also collaborate with your progress with more technical classes or modalities suitable for experts.
- Hiking and trekking expeditions: touring the surroundings of Villavieja del Lozoya, spending the day in the Carpetanos Mountains or following a section of Long Rope, among other examples.

In Madrid Backcountry we are going to show you our favorite places in Madrid's Sierra Norte using snowshoes. We go on an excursion with one of our mountain guides for the whole day or half a day with an average duration of 6 or 3 hours. Although you don't need to know anything in particular, you will be better suited to the adventure if you have some type of mountain experience.
The best thing is that we don't even ask you to form a group to join us because we have rates from a single participant to a maximum of 8. Of course, if you are at least 5 people it will be cheaper. We will lend you both the poles and the snowshoes to go to any of these points, which may vary depending on the amount of snow that has fallen in the area, its thickness and its quality:
- La Cuerda Larga: we will approach to do part of the 16 kilometers that make up this natural line in the northwest part of the province of Madrid.
- Peñalara: climbing to the highest of the peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
- Montes Carpetanos, the Sierra de Ayllón and Somosierra: leaving around the ports of Navafría and Navacerrada, in the first case, or through the massif that connects Madrid with Segovia and Guadalajara.

Get a little closer to snowboarding at theLa Pinilla ski resortwith the classes we prepare for you at Madrid Backcountry. We do not have a certain level to limit ourselves to since we prefer to teach you without taking into account the point you are at.
You will have a specialized snowboard instructor at your disposal and we will arrange insurance for the activity. From there you can teach individually or as a couple for a fee that you can share. We also admit groups of up to 6 students, always making a reduction in the price of your classes.
Regarding the type of knowledge that we will impart, these can be based on:
- Provide you with basic initiation on the board: with a program to start snowboarding, ideal for those who don't even know what the correct posture is and want to make sure they acquire a good base to avoid injuries. p>
- Continue to perfect your technique: we will help you to be able to face complex slopes, gaining autonomy and confidence in each maneuver.
- Explain specific techniques of freestyle, freeride or carving.

In Madrid Backcountry we are going to show you that the Community of Madrid has dozens of options for hiking, many of them unknown to most visitors. To teach them to you, we depart throughout the year on routes of 3 or 6 hours for which we always take into account the level of the group members.
Although we are not closed to the idea you have, for hiking we suggest going to the Circo de Las Lagunillas, taking a walk through the Acebos de Robregordo, going to see the Abedular de Canencia or the Chorro de San Mamés. For more intense alternatives, opt for one of these trekking expeditions:
- Through the Sierra de Patones: going up towards Cancho de la Cabeza, continuing along the banks of the meanders that reach the Lozoya riverbed. The last part of this route of more than 16 km is located in El Atazar.
- Through the Alto Jarama: starting from El Cardoso de la Sierra to reach the more than 1900 meters of altitude of Cerro Santuil. There are 17 kilometers to complete in 7 hours that will leave us at points such as the Hayedo de Montejo.
- Through the Sierra del Rincón: 18 km of adventure that has its initial location in La Hiruela. We will see the Porrejón and we will enter the Peña de la Cabra.
