Where to go scuba diving in Almeria?


The diving is suitable for people who have no previous experience, and who have never done the activity, even for those who already have qualifications and experience and want to try new dives. In Almeria, you can find more than 20 centers dedicated to diving in Aguadulce, La Isleta, San Jose, Cabo de Gata, Carboneras, Hortichuelas, Roquetas de Mar, Almería, Níjar, Las Negras, Mojacar, Villaricos and Rodalquilar.

What types of Scuba diving courses can you do in Almeria?


- Snorkeling: This activity is based on a free diving, without an oxygen cylinder, where only tubes, goggles and fins are used. It allows us to dive in shallow areas and appreciate wrecks, marine flora and fauna. This activity is suitable for all audiences and the only requirement is to know how to swim. Children from 5 or 6 can do it. You can try the activity in Aguadulce, you will go by boat to the cliffs of the Cliffs of the Sierra de Gádor, and there you will make an immersion between 1 and 4 meters deep. The coves of San José, in the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Níjar, will be another point to practice snorkeling. The island of San Andrés, near Carboneras is another one of the indicated points for the activity. Rock formations, starfish, sea urchins, seaweed, anemones, sponges, octopuses and a variety of fish await you.

- Diving baptism: Christening is the first step for those who want to try diving. It is a first experience in the world of scuba diving. In the first place there will be a theoretical part, where you will be taught how to use and care for the diving equipment, how to breathe with the bottle and how to move under water. Once with the acquired concepts, the practical part arrives, we will have to go, usually in a boat, to the point of immersion. Normally, these dives last between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the lung capacity of the participants. The minimum age in Andalusia to perform the activity is 12 years, but there is an option indicated for children from 8 to 12 years in the area of Aguadulce. It is a baptism adapted to the young age of the participants and following the program Bubblemaker. They will also have a theoretical and practical part, but they will submerge only 1 meter deep. Other places where you can do a baptism and feel like a diver for a day are Roquetas de Mar, Almeria, Gabo de Gata, San Jose, La Isleta or Carboneras.

- But if you already know that diving is your thing, that it is one of your favorite sports and you want to go one step further and get your first degree, you should sign up for an OPEN WATER DIVER course. This course will allow you to do dives up to 18 meters deep throughout the world and always accompanied. It consists of a theoretical part and a practical part (immersions in confined waters and in the open sea). Normally the duration goes from 4 to 7 days depending on the time available. Cabo de Gata, San Jose, Carboneras, Aguadulce, Roquetas de Mar, La Isleta, Las Negras or Almeria are some of the places where you can take this course. The most common certifications are PADI, CMAS or SSI. In order to obtain this degree you must be at least 14 years old.

If you already have the OWD you can do diving dives in La Isleta, Cabo de Gata, Almeria or Agua Dulce and discover that it hides the seabed at 18 meters deep, an authentic pass. Here we leave you some options where you can do Dives.

- And for those who want to improve their technique, make new dives and include a little adventure, they can take the Advance Open Water Diver, in La Isleta or in San José. The course is usually completed in 3 days, and you can choose if you want to do dives to practice underwater photography, to identify species, to dive in remains of abandoned boats or even night dives. - For those who want to dive professionally and become diving instructors, they can take the Divermaster course in Almería or La Isleta, for 2 weeks they will receive the necessary training to be able to practice as a professional diver. This is indicated for people from 18 years of age, and who have all the previous qualifications and necessary dives. Here we leave you some options to do the Divemaster.

The activity lasts less than what they put in Yumping. The Aguadulce Diving monitors are very attentive. I was quite overwhelmed at the beginning and at all times a monitor was with me helping me and advising me. In the end they have given us all the videos they have made. Highly recommended. Do you know why the divers back off? Because if they jump forward they hit the boat.

Very nice monitors, and a nice experience. We have not been able to dive in Roquetas de Mar because of the waves, but we have done it in El Palmar in an area equipped for it. Octopuses, some cuttlefish, a moray eel, and multiple goldfish. Ideal for baptism. I recommend it.
