When we talk about rafting in Cantabria we have three powerful allies in our hands, the long and winding rivers Deva, Cares and Ebro. These three rivers have an extensive flow full of numerous sections where the intensity of the water varies, so you will find routes of all kinds of difficulties and designed for different types of groups, such as rafting descents designed exclusively for families.

In the province of Cantabria, the rafting season is practically all year round, from March to October, but only during the four winter months. This is because during this season the thawing season begins, so the water flow is fiercer and more fun.

- If you want to get off some steam, we recommend the Cares River, with an difficulty level of IV/V. The Cares River is one of the strongest and most powerful rivers in Spain, making it an ideal place for rafting. Here you'll find white water that is unique to this region - you won't find anything like it anywhere else. Endless chains of waves will be generated on your way, and the water will toss and bounce as you go down slides and natural walls. The chain of rapids that follow one after the other seems inexhaustible, so get ready for a trip that's as lively as it is thrilling.

- If you want variety you must go to the upper side of the Ebro river. The Ebro river is a fantastic place for rafting because of the diversity of forces it has. You will find 4 sections in this river to choose the plan that best suits what you are looking for and your company. The good thing about a rafting session on the Ebro is that it never fails as you can enjoy this adventure sport practically at any time, even in summer, as it has a dam in Arroyo that regulates its flow perfectly. Rafting on the Ebro is also a great plan for the little ones thanks to its numerous sections. If this is your plan, you can take the route that goes from Arroyo to Bustasur, or the one that goes from the dam to the same destination. You will also find other routes for adults that require more physical effort, but are really exciting. These routes are over 9 kilometres long, so bear this in mind. On the other hand, although there is no Cantabria left, you can also explore the Ebro and Rudrón Canyons Nature Reserve, a beautiful, protected park that combines natural beauty and adrenaline. To do this you have to go to Burgos.

- And if you want something epic, there's nothing like rafting in the Picos de Europa. It is in this beautiful Pyrenean park that you can raft down the Deva River, a river with a III/IV level difficulty flow that is idyllic due to the fantasy setting that surrounds it. This is literally a unique rafting descent in Spain, as only from here can you get to know the Picos de Europa in this way, thanks to a change in the law that allows you to navigate the rivers that embrace this fantasy park. Currently, if you want to go rafting in the Picos de Europa mountains, you can only do so on the Cares Alto, in Asturias, or on the river Deva, through the Desfiladero de la Hermida, in Cantabria. What awaits you is a wild, wooded environment, with intense, dancing white water, but which anyone can enjoy because there are numerous sections of varying force so that experts, novices or families can venture out to try this great plan. Be warned, this rafting descent in the Picos de Europa can only be done in spring, a time of heavy rainfall and alpine thaw.
