Thanks to its location and its waters, Illa de Arousa is one of the places with the most underwater life in Galicia. At Piragüilla Turismo Activo we want you to discover that marine world and for this we organize the snorkeling activity, so that you can learn the basic notions of this sport and marvel at everything. that the sea hides.

The activity can be carried out in two places: either on the coast of A Illa de Arousa; or on the Islet of Areoso, belonging to the municipality of A Illa de Arousa. In the case of carrying out the activity in Areoso, the access will be via a kayak route through the waters of the estuary, where you can appreciate the environment so characteristic of the area, with the rafts that extend along the Ría de Arousa, and the panoramic views of the Arousa coastline.

For the dive we will provide you with all the necessary material to perform surface diving: goggles, fins, snorkel and a neoprene suit.

Minors can do this activity, since this type of immersion is carried out very close to the surface, although they must always be supervised by an adult.

If you intend to enjoy a few days along the Galician coast, don't miss the opportunity to snorkel, something that will undoubtedly not leave you indifferent.

Of all the activities that we organize in Piragüilla Active Tourism, the canoeing courses and routes are among the most requested by users since it is very addictive and whoever does it, repeats.
We have designed three tours around the Isla de Arousa area so that you can enjoy the landscape while having fun driving the canoe.

• Route to Areoso Island: you will travel through the northern part of the Island until you reach the islet of Areoso. Once there we will head towards one of the best preserved natural parks in Spain, the O Carreiron natural park. During this tour you will pass through mussel farms and discover how these animals, so characteristic of the Galician diet, are raised.

• Isla Cortegada – Puerto de Villagarcía Route: this route is somewhat longer than the previous one. We will set sail from Cruceiro beach in the town of Bamio and cross the coast until we reach Carril. When we arrive at Cortegada Island we will make a stop and then continue sailing along Compostela beach until we reach the port of Villagarcía where we will finish our canoe excursion.

• Umia River Route: this river is one of the favorites of all those who love water sports. Along its course you will find wild beaches, Roman bridges and small rapids and jumps that you will have fun with. We start the route at the Arnelas Bridge until we reach a small fishermen's shelter in the town of Cabanelas.

All our routes are simple and can be done by anyone over 12 years old who wants to spend the day in a different way. We recommend this activity for groups from institutes or schools that want to complement their sports activities in a very fun way.

The tours are carried out in natural areas and through forests and unique paths:

• Route on Cortegada Island: the starting point will be the port beach and from there you will tour the island enjoying the botanical gardens that are located there, visiting the clam nurseries and getting to know an environment full of of vegetation and animal life. Access to the hiking route on the island of Cortegada is by kayak.

• Route in the Carreirón Natural Park: you will go hiking through the Carreirón Natural Park, an unparalleled place where you can admire the white sand coves that are home to endless varieties of animals. You will also visit the Carreirón Park lagoon and explore the pine forests that grow next to the sea.

• Route through "A Ruta da Pedra e da Auga" in Ribadumia: this is the route that is most difficult since it is the longest and has slopes and unevenness in the terrain that will require a certain agility. On the path that we have designed in Piragüilla Ocio y Aventura you will be able to admire the water mills of Ribadumia, which extend along the river that accompanies the path.

The bicycle is the vehicle that best adapts to difficult terrain, which is why we want to organize different activities for you to cross the mountain riding a mountain bike or take a bike tour along the coasts of As Rías Baixas.

At Piragüilla Ocio y Aventura we suggest routes that adapt to your needs:

• Greenway routes: these paths have been specially adapted for cycling through the Galician mountains. You will be able to enjoy the landscape and the wide variety of animals in complete tranquility while practicing your favorite sport. With us you will explore the green routes near the Arousa area and its surroundings.

• Routes through natural spaces: the mountains of Galicia are rich in flora and fauna. Traveling through them by bicycle requires greater skill on this two-wheeled vehicle, but it can still be done by anyone who wants to enjoy nature in a different way.

• Multi-day outings: for the most experts and all those who want to enjoy several days of adventure, we prepare outings that last more than one day. On these excursions you will experience a total connection with nature and enjoy doing sports outdoors.
• Route in A Illa de Arousa: located in the epicenter of A Ría de Arousa, this municipality is characterized by being a place surrounded by nature and maintaining care and respect for the environment. Its sought-after beaches, the Carreirón National Park or the incredible views of the estuary that you can see from the O Santo viewpoint, are just some of the corners that await you on this route through the Arousano town.

In Piragüilla Ocio y Aventura we have organized different routes to travel aboard a kayak in the area of A Illa de Arousa.

We have four routes depending on the characteristics of the area:

• Route through the islet of Areoso : get to know the islet, located in the heart of A Ría de Arousa, considered a protected area that can only be accessed by boat. Surrounded by crystal clear water and fine sand, you will discover curiosities that provide added value to the place.

• Route to the island of Cortegada : enjoy sailing through the waters of the mouth of the river Ulla until you reach the island of Cortegada, today classified as a protected natural area and belonging to the As Illas National Park Atlánticas, which keeps the remains of the old town that lived on the island, the great lushness and the different types of forests that are located on it, which make Cortegada a unique place.

• Umia river descent : enjoy the rapids and waterfalls that are located along the Umia river, doing a kayak descent, and turn your day into an exciting and fun day. To carry out the activity it is not necessary to have experience, since it is a safe and simple area.

• Baptism in kayak: for those beginners who want to enter the world of water sports, the best thing is the baptism in kayak, where the little ones will be able to experience the sensation of going in a kayak always managed by instructors. They will also carry out a seashell interpretation workshop, in which they will be able to learn about the mollusks that inhabit our waters.

The Rafting activities that we propose consist of the descent of rivers with whitewater aboard kayaks and canoes. Although the tour is carried out on board a boat, it is absolutely necessary that you know how to swim with enough ease to be able to function easily in the event of a fall into the water.

This activity can be done throughout the year although we are always aware of the weather conditions. Rafting is a team sport and from Piragüilla Active Tourism we recommend doing it with your group of friends or in Team Building activities with your employees.

If you have ever wanted to sail the sea on a real sailboat, Piragüilla Ocio y Aventura is your company. We are a group of people dedicated to marine and water activities in general, so you can trust us to have an exciting boat trip through the Galician landscape.

The sailboat, despite being very long-lived with about 70 years, is perfectly maintained and is fully prepared to transport groups of people. Above it you will be able to see how the waves break and how it turns with the wind, in addition to all the magnificent places that will be observed from its deck and that are worth contemplating.

Our skipper and staff on board will tell the peculiarities of how to pilot the boat, as well as details of the curiosities that we will find. In addition, we will give you a picnic in which you can taste some of the most typical foods of the area, such as mussels, empanada and of course, Albariño wine.

With this visit we will see, through being part of the activity, how it is not an easy task to get the seafood that we can later eat so peacefully in any restaurant. We will learn to value in this way the tremendous effort, perseverance and work involved in bringing these delicacies from the coast to our plates.
