Montsec Guides is a simply spectacular medium and high mountain adventure option. We bring you closer to the Montsec mountain range in the pre-Pyrenees between Lleida and Aragón and the high Pyrenees of Huesca so that you can experience mountain sports like never before. before.

Since 2009 we have developed very different types of mountain activities with our base in Montfalcó, in the Montsec mountain range. The Canelles reservoir and the rocky massifs that surround it are a very conducive environment for adventure.

With Montsec Guides you will find the proposal that can stimulate you the most:

• Canyoning: Incredible number of ravines available to enjoy the abrupt and wild landscape of these canyons in Montsec, the Guara mountain range and the Añisclo and Ordesa valley.

• Climbing: We practice all types of climbing (sports, classic and ridges) on the impressive walls of Montsec and Montrebei and in the high Pyrenees.

• Hiking: Less vertical routes than climbing but equally attractive with the option of undertaking climbs to peaks.

• Vías Ferrata: Come and discover this ingenious way of progressing through rock cliffs with very entertaining itineraries full of challenges.

• Snowshoes: Comfortable progression through the snow with easy and pleasant walks through Ordesa and Monte Perdido and through the Benasque valley.

• Cross-country skiing: With cross-country skis there will be no summit that can resist you in the middle of winter and you can make dizzying descents to reach the summit.

• Kayak tours: Travels in these boats through the waters of the Canelles reservoir between the surprising Montsec mountains. It can be combined with via ferratas.

For any of these activities we organizeinitiation courses in which we help you acquire the autonomy you are looking for.

The most adventurous have the opportunity to come with us to the Alps and trek or climb to mythical peaks such as Montblanc or Monte Rosa.

In Montsec you will find the Batlle hostel where you can rest after an intense day in the mountains in an environment surrounded solely and exclusively by nature in the Canelles reservoir.

TheCanelles reservoir in Montsec, a border region between Aragon and Catalonia, is an artificial lake surrounded by rugged and rugged mountains where we can get on a kayak and explore its waters passing through narrow gorges and stone walls.

With a maximum of 6 people per guide we navigate through these points of the swamp:

• Congost of Montrebei

• Finestras Wall

• Tower of Conclues

All of them spectacular excursions with a very unique landscape beauty, a very peculiar environment with unique rock formations.

The kayaks allow two people inside, being self-emptying and unsinkable.

The walk through the Canelles reservoir lasts several hours that can be spent both in the morning and in the afternoon.

WithMontsec Guides you cancross and descend the most fascinating and spectacular ravines in all the Pyrenees. The ravines of Montsec, the Guara mountain range and the Ordesa valley have very special characteristics that make them irresistible for those who love canyoning.

Long-distance ravines, with spectacular falls and descents that will have to be overcome with skill and courage. We will use the rappelling technique to go down the rock walls, we will jump over pools of water and we will even swim through river beds.

Whether you are going to start practicing canyoning or you already know it, we can offer you a route to do without problems.

Ravines such as the Congosto del Caixigar, the Gurb or Vía de Llevata are some of the best-known ravines in these Pyrenean enclaves.

You will need a wetsuit to protect yourself from the low water temperature and ropes and harnesses to go down the canyon. All this will be delivered to you by our team of guides.

Equipped with snowshoes you will have at your fingertips the best winter landscapes of the Aragon Pyrenees. We take you on guided routes to the Ordesa National Park, the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park and other Pyrenean valleys.

Snowshoes provide very comfortable walks that are especially recommended for coming in large groups. It is an ideal way to enjoy the snow and the views it offers at times when hiking is not possible.

You can walk with snowshoes with more ascending and descending or more horizontal routes. Of different duration:

• Half-day routes: Gentle routes for the whole family of about 3 or 4 hours.

• Winter mountaineering school: Very educational proposal with orientation and igloo construction workshops in addition to the snow routes themselves.

• Full day routes: The most demanding journeys with ascents to some peaks.

We will reach peaks of more than 2,000 meters where no one can reach feeling the freedom and tranquility of nature in the middle of winter.

We are preparing to climb the most imposing peaks of the Pyrenees with our cross-country skis. Routes that take us to the roof of this mountain range with peaks from 2,500 to more than 3,000 meters above sea level.

Cross-country skis are essential equipment for hiking through the snow and traveling long distances to the top and then making intense and fast descents . It is the perfect combination of hardness and effort and fun and speed.

Choose from the itinerary that best suits your physical level:

• Half-day ascents for beginners: Cimas de Bateillance (2,604 m), Portarró (2,736 m) or Los Monges (2,349 m).

• Full-day ascents

• Two-day ascents: Picos de la Maladeta (3,308 m) or Aneto (3,404 m)

The expeditions will be carried out with a guide, forming groups of a maximum of 4 participants.

We also teach ski touring courses with a duration of 2 days.

We will provide you with ski touring equipment as well as crampons and ice axes if necessary.

We have hiking excursions that will delight anyone looking for a good mountain landscape to explore. Through the Montsec region, located in the pre-Pyrenees between Huesca and Lleida, you will be able to see a succession of very unique rock formations that make this enclave a very special point in the Catalan orography.

Depending on what you want, we will give you some routes or others. These are the main routes through Montsec:

• Special hiking and nature route for the whole family: Route with interpretation of Montfalcó and interpretive hiking of Montsec.

• Natural path from Montrebei to Montfalcó through some walkways

• Crossing the Finestras wall

• Section of the GR1 from Congost de Montrebei to Pertusa

• Montsec deserted circuit

Routes that take us a whole day through these enclaves doing a bit of hiking sports and learning about the natural environment of Montsec.

And there is also the possibility of doing hiking and trekking routes with ascents to some peaks of the high Pyrenees of Huesca through the Benasque valley .

The walls of Montrebei and Terradets in the Montsec region in the pre-Pyrenees are the right place for you to come and try the most exciting climbing that you have known. This region is made up of very steep ravines and gorges that will be another incentive to overcome gravity and reach the top.

What type of climbing are you looking for? We have all the climbing modalities so that you can feel the mountain at its best:

Sport climbing

It is the start for any climber being able to start with comfortable and very bearable routes. We have sport climbing courses and full days of climbing very close to the Montrebei Congo.

ridge climbing

You can also climb these curious sharp geological formations so common in Montsec. A very particular way of climbing reaching the top of points such as the Urquiza-Olmo Ridge, the Castle Ridge in Falls and the Cresta de la Cruz in Olvena.

Classic climbing

It is the greatest challenge of climbing, for which you need to master sport climbing well. Through Montrebei and Terradets you can practice this modality with routes of various levels. We have climbing plans that can last one day, spending the night in shelters.

If you prefer, you can doclimbing in any of its forms in the Aragonese Pyrenees in the Benasque valley through thePosets-Maladeta Natural Park.

In the middle of winter we can climb even on ice walls, you won't need to go to Antarctica to try this curious modality.

The mountainous area of Montsec, in the pre-Pyrenees between Lleida and Huesca, contains numerous via ferratas among its cliffs of living rock. They are difficult to access routes that we can only approach through the Canelles reservoir. We combine kayaking with via ferrata.

The via ferratas will take you through unusual places between the rock walls using bridges, ropes and metal stairs. It contains elements of climbing without being so physically demanding.

Different levels of via ferratas in Montsec:

• Initiation routes

• Medium level roads

• Advanced level pathways

The kayak trip to the starting area of the ferrata is not essential but it is highly recommended.

The Pertusa area is the place where we undertake the roads, with excellent views of the entire Montsec and the Canelles reservoir that bathes the foothills of these mountains.

You will also findferratas through the high Pyrenees in classic areas such as Ordesa or the Benasque valley.
