Montsec Guides is an adventure option for medium and high mountains simply spectacular. We approach you to the mountain range of Montsec in the pre-Pyrenees between Lleida and Aragón and the high Pyrenees of Huesca so that you can live the mountain sport like never before before.

Since 2009 we have developed very different types of mountain activities having our base in Montfalcó, in the Montsec mountain range. The swamp of Canelles and the rocky massifs that surround it are a very conducive environment for adventure.

With Montsec guides you will find the proposal that can stimulate you the most:

• Canyoning : Incredible amount of ravines available to enjoy the rugged and wild landscape of these canyons through the Montsec, the Sierra de Guara and the Añisclo and Ordesa Valley.

• Climbing : We practice all types of climbing (sporty, classic and crested) by the impressive walls of Montsec and Montrebei and by the high Pyrenees.

• Hiking: Less vertical routes than climbing but equally attractive with the option of climbing climbs.

• Via Ferrata: Come and discover this ingenious way to progress through rock cuts with very entertaining and challenging itineraries.

• Snowshoes: Comfortable snow progression with easy and pleasant walks through Ordesa and Monte Perdido and through the Benasque Valley.

• Cross-country skiing: With ski skis there will be no top that resists you in the middle of winter and can make vertiginous descents culminate the summit.

• Kayak rides: Cruises on these boats through the waters of the Canelles swamp between the amazing mountains of Montsec. It can be combined with the via ferrata.

For any of these activities we organize initiation courses in which we help you acquire the autonomy you are looking for.

The more adventurous have the opportunity to come with us to the Alps and trekking or ascents to mythical peaks such as Montblanc or Monte Rosa.

At Montsec you will find the Batlle hostel where you can rest from an intense mountain day in an environment surrounded solely and exclusively by nature in the swamp of Canelles.

The Canelles reservoir in Montsec , a border region between Aragon and Catalonia, is an artificial lake surrounded by wild and jagged mountains where we can get on a kayak and explore its waters passing through narrow gorges and stone walls.

With a maximum of 6 people per guide we navigate these points of the reservoir:

• Montrebei Gorge

• Murallón de Finestras

• Tower of the Conclues

Excursions all of them spectacular with a very unique landscape beauty , a very peculiar environment with unique rock formations.

The kayaks allow two people inside, being self-emptying and unsinkable.

The walk through the Canelles reservoir lasts for several hours that can be used both in the morning and in the afternoon.

With Montsec guides you can cross and descend the most fascinating and spectacular ravines of all the Pyrenees . The ravines of the Montsec, the Sierra de Guara and the Ordesa valley have very special characteristics that make them irresistible for lovers of canyoning.

Long-distance ravines, with spectacular falls and offsets that must be overcome with expertise and courage. We will use the rappelling technique to lower the rock walls, jump over the water pools and even swim through the riverbeds.

Whether you are going to start practicing canyoning or already know it, we can offer you a route to take without problems.

Ravines like the Congosto del Caixigar, the Gurb or Vía de Llevata are some of the best known ravines of these Pyrenean enclaves.

You will need a wetsuit to protect you from the low water temperature and ropes and harnesses to lower the canyon. All this will be delivered to you by our team of guides.

Equipped with snowshoes you will have at your fingertips the best winter landscapes of the Aragonese Pyrenees . We take you on guided routes to the Ordesa National Park , the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park and other Pyrenean valleys.

Snowshoes allow very comfortable walks that are especially recommended to come in large groups. It is an ideal way to enjoy the snow and the prints it offers at times when hiking is not possible.

You can walk with snowshoes with more ascending and descending or more horizontal paths. Of different duration:

• Half-day routes: Gentle tours for the whole family for about 3 or 4 hours.

• Winter mountaineering school: Very didactic proposal with orientation workshops and igloo construction in addition to the snow itineraries themselves.

• Full day routes: The most demanding crossings with ascents to some summits.

We will arrive to summits of more than 2,000 meters where no one can arrive feeling the freedom and tranquility of nature in the middle of winter.

We are ready to climb the most imposing peaks of the Pyrenees with our touring skis . Routes that take us to the roof of this mountain range with summits from 2,500 to more than 3,000 meters of altitude.

Cross-country skis are an indispensable material for snow trekking and travel long distances to the top and then make intense and rapid descents . It is the perfect combination of hardness and effort and fun and speed.

Choose between the itinerary that best suits your physical level:

• Half-day ascents for initiates : Bateillance summits (2,604 m), Portarró (2,736 m) or Los Monges (2,349 m).

• Ascents of a whole day

• Two-day ascents : Picos de la Maladeta (3,308 m) or the Aneto (3,404 m)

The expeditions will be done with a guide forming groups of a maximum of 4 participants.

We also teach cross-country skiing courses with a duration of 2 days.

We will deliver the ski touring material in addition to crampons and ice axes if necessary.

We have the hiking excursions that will delight anyone who looks for a good mountain landscape to travel. Through the Montsec region , located in the pre-Pyrenees between Huesca and Lleida, you can see a succession of very unique rock formations that make this enclave a very special point of Catalan orography.

Depending on what you want we will arrange some routes or others. These are the main routes along the Montsec:

• Hiking route and special nature for the whole family: Route with interpretation of Montfalcó and interpretive hiking of Montsec.

• Natural road from Montrebei to Montfalcó through some walkways

• Crossing to the wall of Finestras

• Section of GR1 from the Congost de Montrebei to La Pertusa

• Circuit of the depopulated Montsec

Routes that take us a whole day through these enclaves doing some hiking and learning about the natural environment of Montsec.

And there is also the possibility of hiking and trekking routes with ascension to some summits of the high Pyrenees of Huesca through the Benasque Valley .

The walls of Montrebei and Terradets in the Montsec region in the pre-Pyrenees are the right place for you to come and try the most exciting climbing that you have met This region is formed by ravines and very steep gorges that will be another incentive to overcome gravity and reach the top.

What type of climbing are you looking for? We have all the climbing modalities so that you feel the mountain at its best:

Sport climbing

It is the boot for any climber being able to start with comfortable and very bearable ways. We have sport climbing courses and full days of climbing very close to the Montrebei Congosto.

Ridge climbing

You can also climb these curious sharp geological formations and so common in the Montsec. A very particular way of climbing reaching the top of points such as the Urquiza-Olmo Crest, the Castle Crest of Falls and Crest of the Cross in Olvena.

Classic climbing

It is the biggest challenge of climbing , for which you need to master sport climbing well. Through the Montrebei and Terradets you can practice this modality with multi-level tracks. We have climbing plans that can happen for a day, staying overnight in shelters.

If you prefer you can do climbing in any of its forms through the Aragonese Pyrenees in the Benasque Valley through the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. >

In the middle of winter we can climb even on ice walls, you won't need to go to Antarctica to try this curious modality.

The mountainous area of Montsec, in the pre-Pyrenees between Lleida and Huesca , encloses numerous ferrata routes between its cuts of live rock. These are difficult access routes to which we can only approach through the Canelles swamp. We combine kayaking with ferrata routes.

The via ferrata will take you to unusual places between the rock walls using bridges, ropes and metal stairs. It contains elements of climbing without becoming so physically demanding.

Different levels of via ferrata in Montsec:

• Ways of initiation

• Mid-level tracks

• Advanced level tracks

The kayak trip to the starting area of the ferrata is not essential but highly recommended.

The Pertusa area is the place where we access the tracks, with excellent views of the entire Montsec and the Canelles swamp that bathes the Skirts of these mountains.

You will also find ferrata through the high Pyrenees in classic areas such as Ordesa or the Benasque Valley.
